Dear Ken, Nancy and others who are doing this site, What a great idea! Don’t know if Rich and I will be able to come as we’ll just be getting back from our furlough of summer ‘08. We’re soon beginning our 30th year of ministry here in France. We are involved in Bible School ministry in the northeast part of France. So good to read of what others are doing. Hope we can keep this up. Karyn

This sounds great and Herb and I are planning to come to the 40th reunion. Its hard to believe it will be 40 years in 2009! We still live on Washington Island and own and operate Gibson’s West Harbor Resort. We have six children - two married - two grandchildren.

Who are all those geezers in the blog and websites??  We won’t be able to attend the 40th year reunion, but our hearts will be with you. Thanks for all the great memories of the class of ‘69!

I think the last reunion I attended was in 1979! Back then all my classmates were young. Now I look at the blog sites and websites and wonder who all those geezers are!

My wife Sharon (JoAnn Ficke 6 and I are still with MAF and after nearly 30 years in Africa we moved to Kabul Afghanistan in 2005. We’re still there, and unfortunately, unless there are major changes, we won’t be able to attend the 40th year reunion. Our hearts will be with you though. Thanks for all the great memories of the class of ‘69!

After MBI I got my teaching degree at Northern Illinois University. I taught for two years in a Christian school, and since have done a number of different things.

For 10 years I worked for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship as a print communications specialist (writer). During that time I had the privilege of covering a global project in Albania, visiting the student work in Nigeria (where I was born) and traveling to England to assist in the international office of the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES).

Since leaving InterVarsity I have done a number of different things and currently work as receptionist and accounting assistant for Country Kitchen Restaurants.

Four years ago I was received into membership of the Antiochian Orthodox Church in Madison, Wisconsin. Many evangelicals are finding their way to Eastern Orthodoxy. I have to say, my education at Moody contributed to my decision.

At nearly sixty, I am starting over in many ways. It’s weird to be at this place in life, and hard to believe Moody was 40 years ago! Many memories of Moody seem just like yesterday or last year. It was a highlight of my life.

It is always a joy to gather together for reunions so that we can praise and thank God for the things that he has done in our lives. I look forward to joining one and all.

Welcome to the website for the Class of 1969!  We’re grateful to the Alumni Office for providing so many names and e-mail addresses of classmates so we can start talking once again, get caught up a bit, and maybe share some recent pictures and websites.  That way we will have a better chance of recognizing one another when we all show up at the class reunion…and we will have a little glimpse into what everyone has been doing over the years.

Feel free to make comments on various posts or send me a post of your own to put on the site.  We hope this small effort to begin to reconnect with one another will create interest in attending the reunion at Moody next year.  Let us know your web/blog address or your interest in posting pictures…from the 60’s or the present.  We’re open to any and all ways we can make it fun and interesting to visit the site.  Most of you are much more creative and blog savey than I am, so join in and make a contribution!

 

On Friday night, we pulled out a dusty old box, checked to see if the old 35mm slide projector bulb would still light, put up a rickety old screen and looked at the old photos.  These are not perfect reproductions by any means, but the images still trigger great memories of long long ago on a a galaxy far away. 

There is some history contained in these images - mainly from Senior Retreat.  John Frye’s leap of faith after which he feigned serious injury.  The frightful fall from a stone bridge after dark.  A visit and speech by Dr. Ralph Abernathy.  A couple wedding shots - some of you showed up that day, summer 1969.  Enjoy.

It is wonderful to see the different roads that the Lord has led the people from our Freshmen class at Moody.  I was not at the Senior retreat because I’d transferred to get my teaching degree.

I have three grown children and am a Language Literacy teacher with ESL certification.  While some teachers are retiring, I am just beginning this area of education–the icing on the cake!

I do not know if I can come to the reunion but it is uplifting and encouraging to find out what people have been doing since walking the tunnels of Moody so long ago.

That give us just about ten months to  plan….
