Senior Retreat

Welcome to Green Lake Conference Center…maybe it stirs memories of Senior Retreat 40 years ago.

What do you remember about September 25-28, 1968???

Hit REFRESH to REPLAY

The guest speakers were Dr. Henry Nelson from Trinity College and Dr. Alan Johnson, our Senior Class Advisor.  We shared the conference grounds with the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and heard Dr. Ralph Abernathy on Wednesday night.

It must have been pretty nice weather because some were wearing shorts and some went swimming!

My memories are kind of foggy…send a comment on what YOU remember!!!

Nancy, you brought back a few memories for me as I think back to our retreat. That’s where Ken and I first started “hanging out”. I think we did have good weather, as my recollection is that we even went water skiing. Am I correct on that? I remember, too, that someone fell off a bridge and gave us quite a scare.

Well, it was at the Senior Retreat dinner table that Julie and I did a little known tribal custom of exchanging contac lens and this led inevitably to our being married.

I also played injured from jumping from the tower and I thought Dean Moline was going to kill me as we were driving out of the Center to the hospital and Ken and I told him it was all a gag. Man, was he, what shall I say? P…eaved.

Julie and I remember sitting in the seat together on the way back to MBI just after I played flag football with the guys. I reeked. But, hey, love is both blind and oderless.

Somehow, my name came up again for an answer so here I am again. As far as computers go I’m a bit illiterate!!! Senior retreat, I remember a horseback ride that had the horse taking off with me for the stable by himself. He had had enough!!! I remember the corn roast. Nice time. The weather was great. Rich and I had just gotten engaged shortly before the retreat. I also have a copy of the NASV with Ralph David Abernathy’s autograph!!! Couldn’t find paper, I quess. Hey, this catching up is great.
